Summer 2020 Computer Camps

Due to COVID-19 we have had to cancel out camps in LIT Clonmel. However, we are delighted to offer two online camps this year in their place. The Junior Online Camp will walk campers through how to build and code a "robot" using the BBC micro:bit. The Teen Online Camp is all about coding a 2D game in Python. Learn more

Reasons to choose our computer camps …

  • Our computer camps are age specific. We feel it is important that computer camps are tailored for different age groups and that's why we run camps for 8-10 year olds, 11-13 year olds and 14+ years old. We understand that 8 year olds like different things to 13 year olds and learn at a different pace.
  • They are great fun. We like to teach technology in a fun and engaging way, so we do things like design our own computer games and then go build them or use graphics editors to create our own texture packs for Minecraft or build our own websites or ... the list is long
  • Designed and taught by a 3rd level lecturer. The computer camps have been designed, and are taught, by John, a 3rd level lecturer with 15 years teaching experience who holds an MSc in Technology and a BSc in Computer Engineering.
  • Thinking of doing a computer related course in college. When the Leaving Certificate is all done and dusted would you like to go on to college and study Computer Science, Web Development, Games Development or other such courses. If so then the Teen Computer Camp is a great way to "test the water".
  • It's a great way to meet new friends.. Whether it be a sport, a technology or a computer game, people with a shared interest get on together and it's not long before they seem to be speaking their very own language. You know what I mean?
  • Camps are held in dedicated teaching labs. Our computer camps are held in computer labs in LIT Clonmel that are spaces specifically designed for teaching.
