Techcamp is a suite of one week camps for young people who have an interest in computer technology and would like to learn more. Regardless of which camp you attend you will learn how to build a basic web site,  write a programme, build a 3D model and create a simple animation. During the 2013 camps participants learned to use a graphics editor to create Minecraft texture packs and some even setup a Minecraft server and used Javascript to write a Minecraft mod. In 2014 we introduce the “Teen Campers”  to the wonderful world of Web animation with the Javascript programming language. This year, with our move to LIT, were are looking to introduce the campers to even more cool technology. At Techcamp we pride ourselves in teaching in a fun and engaging way.

The camps have been designed and developed by me, John Hannafin BEng MSc. I am a lecturer at a 3rd level Institute where, since 2000, I have taught such subjects as Computer Programming, Web Development and Interaction Design. In 2013 I founded Clonmel CoderDojo which is a free coding club for young people which runs during the winter months. Prior to lecturing I worked as a software engineer for various multinationals around the globe.
